Starting to Feel Better as a Burnt Out Nurse
This is a tool I use, I teach my clients, I've taught in other workshops and on podcasts because it works. Your brain works in patterns and your current pattern is recreating and finding more evidence to reinforce your experience of burnout. So we are going to start by shifting the pattern your brain goes to by default. We can't jump from " I can't keep doing this to myself, there is no way I can enjoy nursing in these conditions" to " I love what I do and everything is perfect." you're probably thinking that's total BS. We give our brains something to focus on that's more neutral and still feels true. a inbetween thought maybe something like " the circumstances are difficult but i know i can figure this out." This validates your experience, and allows for self-compassion while recognizing your strength. notice how you feel when you shift that focus for your brain? how might you show up differently in your job if you felt validated and capable?
